A member of the Tinubu family has revealed the manner in which Jide Tinubu, first son of the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, died.
According to Daily Post, Jide suddenly collapsed and died from what was suspected to be a heart attack around 9 pm on Tuesday, October 31.
Jide, 43, an accomplished lawyer, was said to have complained of chest pain before he collapsed.
“However, after the incidence, close family members rushed him down to hospital on Lagos Island where he was confirmed dead on arrival,” the unnamed family member said.
He added that the tragic news was kept secret because the APC national leader was in Abuja for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of his party.
Chairman of APC in Lagos state, Otunba Henry Ajomale was the one who confirmed Jide’s death in a short statement sent to party members on Wednesday, November 1.
“It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the son of our dear and esteemed leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement sent via text message said.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, has commiserated with the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, over the death of Jide.
In a statement sent to NAIJ by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom described the demise of the brilliant lawyer as quite shocking and painful.
He urged Nigerians of goodwill to remember the bereaved family in prayers.
The governor expressed his deepest condolences to the Tinubu family and the entire people of Lagos state and prayed that God grant the soul of Jide Tinubu eternal rest and his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
